• Independence of the Sena dynasty in Bengal (in late 1204 ) ^{Middle East}
  • February 26 : The Seljuk Tutus is beaten and killed in a battle near Rey against his nephew Barkyaruq . His son Ridwan succeeded him as king of Aleppo (end of reign in 1113 ). Upon taking office, strangled two of his younger brothers, lest they one day compete him in power. Dukakis , the third managed to escape from the citadel of Aleppo , while the slaves tried to Ridwan strangle. He took refuge in Damascus , whose garrison proclaimed king, and now devotes an implacable hatred to his brother (end of reign in 1104 ).

  • March ¹ - March 7 : Pope Urban II returned to Rome after having strengthened his power, convene a council at Placentia , where a Byzantine embassy of Alexios I ^Komnenos just require the assistance of Western warriors to fight against the Seljuk Turks. The pope encouraged this demand .
  • March 11 : Archbishop Anselm of Canterbury was accused by William of St. Calais with violating his vow of loyalty to the king at the Council of Rockingham. This council was summoned by King William II Rufus , in conflict with the Archbishop, the King wanted the Church to submit to his authority, then Anselm wants to go to Rome to receive his pallium from Pope Urban II .
  • June 3 : Consecration of the church of San Abbondio Como in Italy by Pope Urban II .
  • July 29 : Death of Ladislaus ^I of Hungary. Early reign of Koloman (Kalman, the Scholar, 1070 - 1116 ), king of Hungary , son of Gza ^I. .
  • August 5 : Urban II dedicated the cathedral of Saint-Apollinaire de Valence ; on August 15 , he is at Puy , then went to the Abbey of Chaise-Dieu (18 August) Novels ( August 23 ) .

  • 18 - 27 November : Council of Clermont. Pope Urban II , and Adhemar de Monteil , spend the movement of the truce of God .
  • November 27 : At the close of the council, Urban II preached the First Crusade of the East which turns bellicose activity Knights . The pope still eight months in France and preaches the crusade to Limoges , in Angers , in Le Mans , at Tours , in Poitiers , at Saintes to Bordeaux to Toulouse to Carcassonne and then takes a new council at Nimes in July 1096 . He wrote letters to the Flemings , is preaching Robert Arbrissel in the valley of the Loire , other clerics in Normandy , in England and Genoa.
  • December ¹ : Raymond de Saint Gilles , Count of Toulouse and Provence told the pope that he will attend the crusade .
  • December 5 : Pope Urban II finally transferred the episcopal see of Iria Flavia ( Padrn ) at St. Jacques de Compostela .
  • December 18 : Henry of Burgundy is called Count of Coimbra in a charter . It receives from Alfonso VI of Castile the lands between the Minho and the Tagus , causing the county of Portugal.
