• The English occupied the Ile Sainte-Helene.

Asia

• June 8 : Ietsuna Tokugawa became shogun of Japan (completed in 1680 ).
• Conspiracy of ronin in Japan. These are soldiers who are without jobs, and trying, failing to be heard otherwise, kill the men in power and replace them in all major cities (especially Edo , Kyoto and Osaka ). The maneuver failed, and the use of ronin not be resolved by the aging and death of these men. The bakufu shall therefore avoid creating ronin by the sudden and uncompensated abolition of official duties.

• The Manchus seize Canton. The Emperor Ming -Yong Li fled to Burma. The Emperor Shun-chih , who was 15 years assumes direct responsibility of power.
• The Russians founded the fort of Albazin on Love by Yerofey Khabarov.

Europe

28 - June 30 : Battle of Berestechko by Vermier

• Poor harvest in Europe related to climate. Of warming and harvest early or average in France (in 1651 - in 1686 , except 1672 - 1675 ).

• 28 - June 30 : Nova defeated Zaporozhtzi the battle Berestechko in Ukraine.
• 8 - July 10 : Venetian naval victory over the Ottomans in the Cyclades.
• September 28 : Bogdan Khmelnitsky sign the treaty-Belaya Tserkov with Poland.

• Jacquerie in Poland.
• Russification and forced conversion of khanates Tatars (completed in 1656 ).
• The Emperor Ferdinand III renews and extends the measures against non-Catholics in Austria and the Czech lands.

France

• January / February : The Parliamentary Fronde approaches the Fronde of the Princes. The Parliament calls for the exile of Mazarin ( February 2 ), who compared the English revolutionaries slingers ( January 31 ), to the indignation of Gaston d'Orleans , lieutenant general of the kingdom, which legitimizes the assembly of the nobility ( February 6 - March ). This produces an act of union and wants the meeting of the Estates General , the rule of law, and that is taken into account the provincial elites, that is displeasing to the Parliament of Paris.
• February 6 - December 24 : Exile of Mazarin left Paris disguised in the night from 6 - 7 February.
• 9 - February 10 : The crowd invaded the Palais-Royal. Slingers treat the king and his family captive. Mazarin was forced to release Cond , Conti and Longueville and retire at Brhl on Rhine ( February 13 ).
• February 16 : The princes come triumphantly into Paris. Conde is the head of the Fronde.

• May : Gondi approximates the regent and lack of being murdered (he said) during an altercation with La Rochefoucauld ( August 21 ).
• September 7 : Louis XIV (13) is declared major by the Parliament of Paris, which closes the door to the convening of the Estates General , ending the regency.
• Cond must leave Paris. He joined Bordeaux from the Orme and allied with the Spaniards (27 September). He opens the hostilities in Saintonge ( October 8 ). The royal army is Cognac and La Rochelle ( November 27 ). Cond back beyond the Charente and the Dordogne. Victory of Hocquincourt slingers on the Pont-de-C.
• December 6 : Riots in Paris.
• King recalls Mazarin ( December 13 ) coming to Sedan with a small army ( Dec. 24 ). Parliament puts price on his head ( December 29 ).

• The Burgundy expands the Charolais.

British Isles

September 3 : Cromwell in the Battle of Worcester

• January ¹ : Charles II , son of Charles I of England is crowned king of Scotland at Scone by the Scottish Covenanters. It attempts to invade England.
• July 20 : Battle of Inverkeithing , last battle of the Third English Civil War. Cromwell forced the Scots to join the Commonwealth.
• August : On behalf of Protestant solidarity, Oliver Cromwell proposes merging the United Provinces and of England as one nation in the Commonwealth. The Dutch refused in October.
• September 3 : Battle of Worcester , in which Cromwell's troops inflicted a defeat to Charles II, exiled in France.
• October 9 : " Navigation "act "British navigation act to limit the market power of the United Provinces. Goods imported into England must be either a British ship, either by the importing country. This act is the origin of the first Anglo-Dutch Naval War (ending in 1654 ).

Religion

• From 1651 to 1673 , the three courts of the Inquisition of Portugal condemn 184 victims to be "relaxed" (delivered into the hands of the secular power for execution) in person, 59 in effigy to do penance and 4793 (down two thirds the annual average over the previous period).
