Black Forest

Baden-Wrttemberg (in German is one of the (states) component of Germany. It is sometimes also called Baden in French (only in its western part, corresponding to the former Grand Duchy of Baden ).

Baden-Wuerttemberg is the demographic and economic importance of the third Land Germany.

Its capital is Stuttgart , the most populous city and the most economically important.

The most famous sights are the Black Forest (Schwarzwald), the Lake Constance (Bodensee), the Swabian Jura (Schwbische Alb), the cloister Maulbronn and the cities of Heidelberg , Stuttgart , Karlsruhe , Freiburg im Breisgau , Baden-Baden , Tbingen , Ulm and Constance.

Baden-Wurttemberg is bordered by France and Switzerland. In Germany itself it is neighboring Lnder of Rhineland-Palatinate , in Hesse and Bavaria.

Apart from the metropolis that is Stuttgart, the regions of " Ulm / Neu-Ulm ( Bavaria ) "and" Mannheim / Heidelberg / Ludwigshafen ( Rheinland-Pfalz ) "and the border region of Basel also have a considerable economic influence.

Economy

Lake Constance

Baden-Wrttemberg is one of the economically more competitive in Europe. It is a center of automotive industry ( Daimler , Porsche , Robert Bosch GmbH , Audi ) with sites in Stuttgart , Sindelfingen , Neckarsulm , Mannheim , Rastatt , Gaggenau and Ulm. Many companies in the engineering industry located there ( Festo , Voith , Liebherr , Trumpf, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen). Precision mechanics, particularly watches, there are longstanding ( Junghans ), more recently, companies producing consumer electronics have been implanted ( SABA , Dual). Baden-Wuerttemberg has long been a center of textile industry , which it still retains some importance ( Hugo Boss , Trigema, Steiff). At Karlsruhe is the largest refinery in Germany. The headquarters of the company SAP AG , Europe's leading supplier of software is located in Walldorf.

The unemployment rate of 4.6% (September 2010 ) is one of the lowest in Germany. Only Bavaria has a lower unemployment at 4.0% Subdivisions
