Capital

A capital (from Latin head) is a city where sit the authority, or a city with a rule in a social, cultural, economic and sports. In this case, also known as Metropolis.

We generally use the term only to describe the capital city of a State (which generally serve the city and national authorities).
In some countries, the constitutional capital is the seat of the institutions, including the Netherlands , whose capital is Amsterdam, although all institutions are located in The Hague.
In countries formed a federation of states, each has its own capital and the country has a federal capital. Thus, the United States , Sacramento is the capital of California and Washington, the federal capital, as Quebec is the capital of Quebec and Ottawa, the capital of Canada.

The term county town is also used in some countries to designate a capital of an administrative subdivision.
