Cornwall or Cornwall History The name Cornwall reflects the situation before the conquest of the seventh century by the Angles and Saxons when people spoke a Brythonic language (now Cornish ). Many place names are analogous to those found in the Britons of Britain French. Many medieval saints are common to both regions. According to the legend recorded by Geoffrey of Monmouth in his Historia regum Britanniae , Cornwall would derive their name from Corineus , a Trojan warrior in the army of Brutus of Britain. Undeveloped, the county does not include a large city and is poorly developed. The main income is from tourism and agriculture. The city of Truro is the administrative and ecclesiastical. ( St Austell is the largest town with 30,000 inhabitants but Camborne and Redruth conurbation together form a larger one). The mining of tin and copper in the nineteenth century was of great importance but ended around 1990: the latest was South Crofty mine. It is a great maritime nation with many fishing ports (Newlyn, Falmouth , Fowey, Looe and Penzance ). The sardine fishery was for many centuries of great importance.
