Cree is an Algonquian language spoken by the Cree. The cry with the Innu aimun , the Atikamekw and Naskapi together form a dialect of the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the Rocky Mountains. Cree is the language most spoken in the Indian Canada but suffers from the predominance of English and French.

Cree, which stretches over a vast territory, includes many local varieties. They are distinguished by the different treatment of *- l-Proto-Algonquian:

Writing

It has an original syllabic alphabet (or syllabary ) it shares with the Inuktitut and in some localities, with the Ojibwe. Here is a table identifying the most common symbols in art.
