The county of Cumbria (Cumbria English / kmbri / locally / kmbri / ) is a county 's non-metropolitan north-west England. It is bordered to the west by the Irish Sea , south by Lancashire (Lancaster French), south-east by the North Yorkshire and east by the counties of Durham and Northumberland (chain Pennines ). The Scotia is located just north. The National Park Lake District National Park , considered one of the most beautiful places in England, its territory was a source of inspiration for artists and musicians force English as foreign.

This county was created in 1974 after passing the Local Government Act of 1972 and covers the counties of traditional Cumberland and Westmorland , as well as fragments of Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Much of the county is mountainous, and there is the highest peak of Cumbria (and England), Scafell Peak, which rises to 978 m. All the mountains of England exceeding 900 m in altitude in Cumbria.
