Edward I of England ( 17 June 1239 - 7 July 1307 ) was King of England from 1272 to 1307. He is known as the conqueror of Wales and of Scotland.

Youth

Son of King Henry III of England and Eleanor of Provence , Edward has more military and political skill as his father. Warrior king, he crushed all opposition to his rule, and leaves several times crusade. He is nicknamed Edward leggy (Longshanks English) or, in England , the "Hammer of the Scots" (Hammer of the Scots), or Edward the Sec.

Margaret of Scotland

Edward I was invited by the Scottish nobles, on the death of Alexander III of Scotland , whose death leaves only heir to his granddaughter, then aged three years: Margaret of Norway - born in 1283 , Queen of Scots of 19 March 1286 to 26 September 1290. The young age of the heir to the throne of Scotland opens the regency and thereby to possible wars.
