Marsi
The Marsi were a people of ancient Italy , living in the Apennines , between the Sabine ( Sabine ) and Sannio ( Sammies ). These are tough mountain people, who occupied the summits around the lake Fucino. Their principal centers were Marruvium ( San Benedetto dei Marsi ) Milionia (near Pescina ) and Lucus Angitiae ( Luco dei Marsi ). Defeated by the Romans in the third century BC. AD , they were then fed to a certain animosity towards them. During the Social War , were ordered by the Marsi Pompdius Shiloh (friend of Marcus Drusus) and the Confederation meets Marsian 100 000 men. This is the Roman general Sulla defeated them.
They worshiped the goddess Angitia.
