Podcast: the poem Mei Peef a EECH (My pipe and me) by Peter von der Mosel

The Franconian Moselle is a Germanic dialect. It is spoken in Lorraine (like the Frankish Luxembourg and the Lorraine Franconian Rhenish ) in the border country Nied , to Boulay , Bouzonville and Telford and also in Germany along the Moselle.

To the east, is close to the Moselle Franconian Rhine Franconian ( Frankish Rhineland Lorraine , Palatine Frankish , Hessian ). In Lorraine, the eastern boundary of the domain of Moselle Franconian dialect corresponds roughly to the line of the watershed between the basin of the Nied (where we talk Moselle Franconian) and other tributaries of the Saarland (which is spoken Lorraine Franconian Rhine). This limit corresponds to the isogloss das / dat ( sound shift in the final).

To the west, is near the Moselle Franconian Franconian Luxembourg (Luxembourgish some classifications considered as a variant of the Moselle Franconian). In Lorraine, the western boundary of the domain of Moselle Franconian dialect corresponds roughly to the line of the watershed between the basin of the Nied (where we talk Moselle Franconian) and the Moselle. This limit corresponds to isogloss op / of (sound shift in the final).

To the south, is near the Moselle Franconian speaking novel Lorraine.
