Sachsen-Anhalt Germany ) is one of the sixteen Lnder constituting the Germany. Its capital is Magdeburg. The land has an area of 20,447 km2 and a population of 2.4 million. This land was founded in 1990, at the time of German reunification.
Summary |
Saxony-Anhalt consists mainly of a plain used for agriculture, and on the south-west of the eastern mountains of Harz. The main river is the Elbe which flows from southeast to northwest. The second largest river, the Saale , a tributary of the Elbe.
Territorial Administration
January 1, 2004 Saxony-Anhalt has removed his 3 districts of Dessau, Halle and Magdeburg. 1 July 1994 , Saxony-Anhalt has reduced its districts from 37 to 21, then on 1 July 2007, 21-11. It therefore has today, 11 districts and 3 cities boroughs.

History
The territory of Germany was established Eastern 1947 by the merger of the Land of Anhalt and the province of Prussian Saxony. Held in 1949 when the constitution of the German Democratic Republic , it was abolished in 1952 and divided into two districts: those of Halle and Magdeburg.
Monuments
- Saxony-Anhalt is famous for its abundance of museums, monuments of architecture variety of castles , castles baroque or neoclassical, and the refinement of its gardens. There are still many small Romanesque churches and great Gothic cathedrals , as at Magdeburg, and Halberstadt in Naumburg. Another architectural heritage is represented: the Bauhaus at Dessau Rolau example. Near this town is also the largest park in Germany, Dessau Wrtlitzer Gartenreich, an English garden.
- Found in Saxony-Anhalt many prehistoric sites as Goseck Circle or Disk of Nebra. These sites, recently discovered, provide him an international reputation today.
