North Africa

  • Introduction of the camel in Roman Africa at the beginning of the century.
    • The use of camel can restore the connections between Black Africa and North Africa. Three groups of nomads living then in the Sahara: the Toubou east, in the region of Tibesti , the Touareg at the center in the region of Hoggar , the Sanhadja west on the edge of the Atlantic. The Tuareg have frequent contact with Rome. It was discovered in the graves of nomads of the central Sahara several objects of Roman origin.
  • The Christianity was introduced from the first century at Carthage by oriental missionaries who preach the new religion with Jewish communities and gain many converts. The mid second century, preachers from Italy took over the East. At the end of the century, the influence of Christianity spread to the cities of Numidia , while starting the first persecution ( 180 ).
  • From the second century, the cultivation of the vine and the olive tree grows in North Africa along with that of wheat. Horse breeding is increasing, but also cattle and sheep. The country supplies a large number of wild animals for the circus.

Central Asia
