Special Franais

The special Franais, literally "special English" is a simplified form of language English used by VOA or the Voice of America), a public radio station run by the Government of the United States. His diction is slower (25% less than the normal speed of diction), and the Special Franais uses a limited number of words (less than 2000) and excludes idioms.

With this simplification, people with a basic level of English can understand the broadcasts. The special Franais can also facilitate the learning of English is one of its uses in China, where this form of English is becoming more popular.

The first broadcast of a program in special Franais occurred October 19, 1959.
