The Test Of Franais for International Communication (TOEIC) qualifications are standardized, internationally recognized, to determine accurately the level of English non-English speakers both in the writing than speaking. These tests are designed in particular to assess the candidate's knowledge in a professional context, without ever entering a specific jargon. More than 5 million tests are adjusted each year worldwide, including hundreds of thousands in France.

Summary

/ / History

TOEIC English test was created in 1979 by Educational Testing Service (ETS) in USA at the request of the Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade of Japan ( METI ).

History of the TOEIC Listening and Reading

The test lasts two hours and consists of two hundred multiple choice questions distributed as follows:

  • Listening: 100 questions (Duration: 45 minutes)
  • Reading Comprehension: 100 items (Duration: 1:15)

The support of the test consists of a booklet with questions and an answer sheet with boxes to fill in the pen , to enable automatic correction.

Assessment of listening (Listening)

Four sections make up this party. Candidates listen to descriptions of each image in audio (cassette or CD). Each section is read only once:

  1. Section one: a photograph is displayed and four stories are read. We must find one that matches.
  2. Second Section: This section includes a question that we must find the most appropriate response among the three proposed solutions.
  3. Third Section: This section is based on a mini dialogue between two people, which should be deducted responses among four choices. There are three different issues.
  4. Section Four: This final section deals with a monologue: we must answer several written questions.

Assessment of Reading (Reading)

This part consists of three sections:

  1. First Section: This section focuses on phrases that are missing a word or phrase: you must choose the right complement of several possibilities. Grammar as well as vocabulary are assessed.
  2. Second Section: This section includes letters or other documents which are missing several words. Must be complemented by choosing from among four proposals each time.
  3. Section Three: This last section features articles from which it must derive information to answer questions (two to four questions per paper).
